Traditionally, the hanging of cookware overhead was a purely functional decision. Today, the strategy of copper pots on display in the French country kitchen gets as much applause for its gorgeous form as for its function. Outdoor- or lantern-style lighting is used seamlessly in a French country kitchen, due largely to its rustic, organic, yet hard-working aesthetic.
Use as much open storage as possible in your design. Even if your cabinets have window glass, you’ll get to peek at all the pieces you’ve chosen inside – which hopefully – coincide with the style genre. Stripes are another help in creating interest and personality inside your retro kitchen. Pay attention to the linens when adding your stripes, as it’s a great way to mix and match.
A different way of making the most of a kitchen’s large windows and view is by designing cabinetry along that wall and positioning the sink right in front of the window. This way you can admire the view while washing the dishes. Check out the layout proposed here by Anne for more details.
