As the heart of their house, modern and urban peopletry to make the kitchen simple, livable, but still aesthetical. Many of them call it minimalist design. For example, they only put what they really need: cupboards on one side, and cabinets as well as bar table at the other side. There is only a big painting on the other wall to give an aesthetical accent. Putting a unique hung lamp is also acceptable. They only apply white for the window and get the natural texture of wood exposed on the floor and the cabinets and table.
Letting our kitchen stay spacious without too much furniture is one of the characteristics of minimalist kitchen design. In the picture, the cabinets, cupboards table, and chimney are put closely together in a corner. The furniture chosen is also the simplest one, without too much decoration on it. Then letting the light come inside the kitchen through its large windows or door is the second characteristic. Then using simple lamp and chairs is also a part of making it minimalist.
Look at the large floor in the picture. It looks more like a hall or ballroom than a kitchen. This is an example of minimalist kitchen design. While it is large, we do not need to put too much decorative furniture. Soft and natural-colored cabinets, combined with naturally-exposed wood, two unique red chairs, and a large bowl-shaped lamp make a perfect combination of a minimalist kitchen. Hanging a maroon shelves on one side of the walls is not a too-much-to-do thing.
Placing almost all furniture at a certain point is one thing we can do to make a kitchen spacious. Exposing its natural looking wood floor also adds up to the concept of minimalist. Then applying not too many contrasting colors is also a great idea to make it more minimalist. Natural and soft color choices are a good option: light brown, wood, maroon, white and gray. Even making use of a corner by putting a simple artwork does not even make it too complicated.
A combination of soft and natural colors creates a sense of minimalist design. Even when we put our living room just right next to our kitchen, we do not need to make them color slightly different. Just put two carpets on another area of the large room along with dark-gray sofa set and a wall behind the sofa that has different color will make it a living room already. Moreover, when we put a big shelf where we put a TV set and the other things, the impression of minimalist design is still there. Hanging a big painting can give a simple accent in between the two rooms.
